Guide:Making money

This article is a guide
This page is intended to help players learn how to use or how to do something. It contains instructions and examples rather than purely descriptive information.

On the Donut SMP, players start with a zero balance and limited resources. This guide explains the primary methods used to earn money and establish a stable income early on. It covers early-game strategies as well as more advanced methods used by experienced players.

Auction House flipping

Auction House flipping (or AH flipping) is the process of buying items from the Auction House at a lower price and reselling them at a higher price for profit. This method relies on understanding market prices and identifying undervalued listings. If executed correctly, the player can make multiple millions of dollars from a single flip. The process for this method is as follows:

  1. Buy an item at a low market price
  2. Wait until the item's price increases
  3. Sell the item at the higher price
However, this method does require you to have the money to initially buy the assets. The outcome also depends on the market, which can be volatile.

Order flipping

Items on the Orders page sell for significantly cheaper than auction house entries because the players who fulfill orders are paying for the convenience of dragging in multiple shulkers of one item at once, instead of individually selling them on the Auction House. Items such as Observers, Repeaters, Comparators, Targets, Chests, and Hoppers are high in demand and will sell for less on Orders than they do on the Auction House. By creating an order for one of these items, you can collect a lot of them and then resell them on the auction house for a higher price. This method works best with items which aren't high in prices, as those types of items barely go for any cheaper on orders than they do on the auction house.

Filling buckets

Buckets of lava and water sell for more than the bucket itself. A stack of iron ingots cost around $50K which makes 21 buckets. You can use the /rtp command to go to the nether where there is an abundance of lava. After filling the buckets they sell for around $5K each which means that you can make $55K for every stack of iron.
