On the 3rd of June, 2026, DonutSMP introduced changes to make the server to make the server appeal to vanilla players. The update overhauled many of the server's original features, and removed many features to make the server more adjacent to vanilla Minecraft.

Changes
Teams and friends
Teams are deprecated and have been replaced with a Friends and Following page. Settings that once disabled social features now have options to limit requests and messages to only players who are friends or players who are followed by the user.

Scoreboard
The scoreboard has been changed to provide minimal information. Only the player balance, shards, kills, deaths, and playtime can be viewed and toggled through the settings.
Teleports
Random teleports are now instant upon command execution. The cooldown has been changed to 15 seconds.
Tablist
The new tablist
Monetization
Shards can no longer be collected through AFK, and the AFK servers have been removed as a whole. Shards can only be obtained through purchase with real currency.
Donut ranks
Donut+ has changed their subscription benefits, and the server has introduced Donut++ and Donut+++ ranks.
Shard shop
The new shard shop can only be accessed through the /ah or /orders GUI and many items from the old Shop are now purchasable through shards.
Deprecated features
Crates, AFK lobby, spawn lobbies, sell multiplier, and duels have been removed from the server.
Furthermore, every command listed here is removed:

- /fly
- /hide
- /sellmulti
- /spectate
- /team
- /warp
- /world
Vanilla dialogs
TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'replace') DonutSMP has switched from using chest GUIs to using the dialog feature introduced in 1.21.6.
